About University Health Service
Primary Care
The University Health Service (UHS) provides confidential, high-quality health care services for students, employees, and other members of the University community. The University Health Service offers a wide range of medical services, including treatment for illnesses and injuries, management of ongoing medical problems, and care and advice for health care concerns.
Patient-Center Medical Home
The University Health Service offers a team-based approach to patient care that is comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible. This team-based approach is called a Patient-Centered Medical Home. To provide our patients with high-quality care as efficiently as possible, all full-time students are assigned a physician or nurse practitioner as their primary care provider (PCP). Non-student primary care patients may choose a PCP at University Health Service. Care providers are organized into two patient-centered Medical Home teams, the Blue Team and the Yellow Team. Your PCP will work in collaboration with members of your team to coordinate your care and treatment.
Confidentiality
All visits to University Health Service and University Counseling Center are confidential. We will not share any information about the fact or nature of a patient’s visit to the University Health Service or University Counseling Center without the patient’s permission. Notification of others, including parents, friends, and University faculty and administrators, is considered the patient’s responsibility unless the condition is life-threatening and the patient is unable to assume responsibility for informing others. Parental notification and consent will be obtained for patients under age 18 receiving care at UHS, as required by law. See Confidentiality and Patient Rights.

Leadership Team
The Leadership Team is the governing body for University Health Service (UHS) and the University Counseling Center (UCC) and is responsible for the following:
- Planning and designing services
- Setting and achieving goals
- Writing and reviewing policies
- Maintaining financial stability
- Setting appropriate staffing levels
- Determining staff qualifications and competencies
- Coordinating activities among the various components of University Health Services and University Counseling Center
- Overseeing the Quality Improvement (QI) Program and performance improvement activities
- Assuring accreditation readiness is maintained at all times
Clinical Staff
The clinical staff of the University Health Service includes physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Physicians are board-certified and have faculty appointments in the School of Medicine and Dentistry. See Providers for information about clinical staff members.

Locations and Hours
The University Health Service has offices on the River Campus, in the Medical Center, and at the Eastman School of Music. Visits to University Health Service are by appointment. To schedule an appointment, please call (585) 275-2662.
